Moder Preparation Guide: Mountain Logistics and Ranged Control

Moder combines a long ranged phase with a dangerous grounded phase on steep terrain. The hard part is not discovering the summon location; it is bringing eggs, arrows, food, frost protection, and a recovery route to a Mountain where every slope can spend the stamina you needed for the fight.

Make the Mountain sustainable first

A first silver trip should produce more than one shiny weapon. Prioritize frost-independent clothing, the cauldron improvement that unlocks Mountain food, a capable bow path, and the tools required to move additional silver. Keep frost mead at both ends of the portal until every likely recovery character can survive the environment without the missing corpse gear.

Mountain food needs a supply chain. Plant onion seeds in a biome where they grow, preserve wolf meat and freeze glands, and avoid consuming the last ingredients during routine scouting. The Moder attempt and a recovery attempt must both start with full-quality food, not whatever survived the climb.

Move eggs and metal with separate plans

Dragon eggs are heavy and cannot be teleported. Mark each nest, stage eggs in secure chests, and choose a route that does not require repeated blind climbs. If the altar is on another Mountain, the shipping route may be the largest task in the phase. Travel in daylight and avoid combining egg transport with unexplored terrain.

Silver has the same portal restriction, so establish a controlled descent to a cart or ship. A steep direct line may be fast while empty and disastrous while loaded. Test the route with a modest load, repair terrain where possible, and place waypoints before moving the account’s whole silver reserve.

Prepare a fight area that preserves stamina

Clear nearby stone golems, drakes, and wolves, then study where the terrain breaks line of sight. A broad, gently connected loop is better than deep trenches that catch the player or block melee access. Existing rocks can provide momentary cover, but avoid standing where one attack creates an unavoidable drop.

Place the portal down-slope or behind terrain beyond the arena and keep the recovery chest in a warmer or frost-safe location when possible. The spare kit needs frost protection, food, a bow, and enough arrows to reach the main marker. A portal that requires the lost cape to access is not a recovery plan.

Separate the air and ground phases

While Moder is airborne, aim deliberately and move before incoming projectiles commit you to a bad position. Avoid firing until stamina reaches zero; the next reposition may include a climb. Consistent arrows over a long fight outperform short bursts followed by helpless movement.

When Moder lands, approach from readable terrain and use short melee windows if the loadout supports them. Watch the head and body rather than staring at the health bar. If terrain makes the grounded phase worse, keep ranged pressure and relocate instead of forcing damage on a slope.

Turn dragon tears into Plains readiness

Moder’s reward opens the artisan production chain used for Plains materials. Build it at a defended base, then establish a separate Plains farm with room and visibility. Do not carry the entire Mountain kit into an unexplored village. Scout, portal, grow local crops, and prepare fire resistance before treating the Plains as the next home.

Before you leave

Expedition checklist

  • Three dragon eggs are staged at the altar before the fight begins.
  • Frost protection remains available even if the equipped corpse kit is lost.
  • The bow is repaired and the arrow reserve supports a long airborne fight.
  • Current Mountain foods and a second full meal wait at the recovery point.
  • The arena has a connected movement loop without deep self-made traps.
  • A labeled portal and frost-safe recovery chest sit beyond the combat zone.
