Mistlands Sap Extraction: Dvergr Extractor and Yggdrasil Roots in 0.221.12
Unlocking magic and Eitr-infused gear requires raw sap from pulsing ancient Yggdrasil roots in the Mistlands. Patch 0.221.12 preserves core root replenishment mechanics and Dvergr aggro rules. This guide walks through acquiring the Dvergr Extractor from component crates, setting up automated tap rotations, and preventing catastrophic Eitr refinery radiation damage.
Acquiring the Dvergr Extractor without full garrison combat
Dvergr Extractors spawn exclusively inside Dvergr component crates located in Mistlands dvergr towers, docks, and mine excavation camps. In patch 0.221.12, damaging the crate with any weapon or pickaxe instantly breaks the Dvergr Ward and turns all friendly mages and rogues within 50 meters permanently hostile.
To retrieve the extractor peacefully, exploit environmental damage. Luring a wild Seeker Soldier or Gjall into the outpost causes the monsters to attack the structures; their area-of-effect stomps and fireballs destroy the crate without attributing player damage, leaving the surviving Dvergr neutral toward you. Alternatively, carrying a single unshielded Refined Eitr nugget into the room causes continuous acid sparks that chip the wooden crate to zero durability in approximately 40 seconds.
- Found exclusively in blue-glowing Dvergr Component Crates in Mistlands.
- Direct pickaxe hits provoke immediate crossbow and fire mage hostility.
- Baiting Seekers or Gjalls cleanly destroys the crate with zero faction penalty.
- Dropping Refined Eitr corrodes crate durability through passive radiation ticks.
Crafting the Sap Extractor and root mechanics
With the extractor in hand, craft the Sap Extractor structure using 1 Dvergr Extractor, 10 Yggdrasil Wood, and 5 Black Metal near a valid ancient Yggdrasil root. In patch 0.221.12, up to 4 extractors can be attached to a single massive root, though stacking multiple extractors accelerates root exhaustion proportionally.
Ancient roots have an internal vitality pool of 100 points. When an extractor is running, it siphons 1 unit of sap every 60 seconds (up to a storage capacity of 10 sap per tap). As the root drains, its visual hue shifts from vibrant pulsing emerald to a faint pale glow. Once completely exhausted, extraction rate drops by 80% until the root undergoes a 2-game-day recovery cycle.
Setting up efficient root tap rotations
Rather than leaving 4 extractors permanently on one root, the optimal production loop links 3 distinct ancient roots via a dedicated Mistlands portal hub. Tapping each root with 2 extractors yields 20 sap per root (60 sap total) in approximately 10 minutes without pushing any root into deep dormancy.
Mistlands terrain is hazardous for sap runs. Clear the surrounding area of infested ticks and seeker nests, and place warded stone steps or wooden roofs over the extraction taps to protect your collection runs from roving Gjall firebombs.
- Deploy 2 extractors per root to prevent catastrophic exhaustion.
- Connect 3 neighboring root stations with an unhindered stone pathway or portal.
- Harvest cycles peak at 10 sap per extractor container.
- Enclose taps under covered roofs to deflect falling Gjall ticks.
Safeguarding the Eitr Refinery against spark radiation
Combining raw sap with Soft Tissue produces Refined Eitr inside the Eitr Refinery. During refining, the machine randomly expels bright green sparks that deal 30 blunt and 30 lightning damage to any surrounding player, creature, or building material. Wood and ordinary stone structures disintegrate rapidly under continuous refinery sparks.
Build a dedicated refining vault constructed entirely out of Black Marble or Gravensten blocks. These high-tier stone materials are completely immune to Eitr spark decay. Ensure the vault features an iron gate entry and a slanted marble roof to trap all rogue sparks inside the blast chamber.
